fall colors and family portraits

It’s always surprising how much Fall makes us feel like change, and new beginnings. This weekend we baked an apple pie and had friends over, after a summer of go-go-go. In Portland, the maples are all yellow now, and the nights are chilly.

I think families change and regroup in Fall – ours always did. School starts, of course. Maybe there’s more time together inside as dark comes early. Families sort of re-meet.

All of this excitement and anticipation makes it a wonderful, traditional time for a family photo …

… as for me, I love shooting in the Fall.
