New Mexico, I believe, has some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth. The terrain is varied, the lighting incredible, and the air is thin and clear. The native architectural adobe design, blend exquisitely with Spanish and Mexican influences. The color palette is generally browns, tans and blues and winter particularly brings out the best in these colors.
From Georgia O’Keeffe red rock country to the mesas and the pueblos there is always some spectacular rock formation to see. With the higher altitudes and the varied terrain, I have also always found a magnificent spiritual connection to the northern areas.
Ojo Caliente, about an hour north of Santa Fe, is one of the oldest health resorts in the country. The spa has been operating for 140 years and it is believed that the 700 year old P’osi pueblo people nearby used the waters in their day. Ojo Caliente is the only spring in the world to contain 4 minerals: Arsenic—believed to relieve arthritis, skin conditions and stomach ulcers; Iron—good for circulation; Soda—good for digestive problems; and Lithia—said to relieve digestive issues and depression.
