I look at portraits as a way to find a connection with people. I find that lives can be changed by a portrait; you face yourself, you are adored by a lens, an eye, and a heart. You become vulnerable, and find new strength. You may never see yourself the same again. This intimate connection creates vulnerability in both subject and photographer – which leads to capturing someone’s essence. Many of my clients have told me that my pictures of them are the best pictures anyone has ever taken. I believe my images turn out so well because  there is more happening than just a photo session; there is a magic taking place in the moment.

In this blog, I talk about some of my favorite moments with my clients that led to some of my favorite pictures. I also discuss what I love about other photographers’ work and share photography tips – things I’ve learned over the years that can make the difference between an ordinary and an extraordinary picture.

Through Sapphire Studio, I offer portraits for individuals, high school seniors and families. Sessions are available in the studio, on location, or in your home. I also offer professional headshots and complete graphic design services.
